ITA further pledges to assist member companies in managing the impact of change in the trucking profession and to enhance the professional and economic growth of our members.

Celebrating our 77th years as the “Voice in Illinois”, the Illinois Trucking Association consisted of hundreds of dedicated trucking companies and Allied Members who support our valued industry. ITA is the ONLY Illinois affiliate of the American Trucking Associations. As a result we bring with us experience of all other State Trucking Associations into one united team. Illinois Trucking Association provides you a lobbying voice in Springfield PLUS a whole array of services to help manage the impact of change within our industry. We team with other industry leaders to provide educational opportunities and member discounts.

ITA Staff, Members and our lobbyist have played a critical role in supporting the trucking Industry in Illinois and nationally. As the ONLY Illinois affiliate to the American Trucking Associations, we have worked diligently to defend the rights of our members in the Illinois General Assembly, various state, county and federal agencies. • Secured legislation to reinstate the Rolling Stock Tax Exemption
• Worked with the Department of Revenue to reduce the Commercial Distribution Fee by 60% effective July 1, 2006
• Represented the industry by securing $100,000,000 savings over four years with the Illinois Toll Highway Authority through I-Pass savings.
• ITA plays a critical role as the Illinois administrator of the Highway Watch® program, training over 16,000 participants in Illinois
• ITA is the Illinois sponsor of the Illinois Professional Truck Driving Championships host to over 150 participants and growing every year

Executive Director George Billows is a 37-year veteran of the trucking industry. Having worked in Operations and Labor relations for 32 years with Roadway Express he understands the issues that our members face everyday. He serves as the Chairman of Region III of the Trucking Associations Executive Council, A Board member of the Intermodal Motor Carrier Council, CMAP Intermodal Task Force, GCM Corridor, Illinois terrorism Transportation Task Force, IDOT Work Zone Safety Committee, HELP, Inc/PrePass and participates in various Chicago and State Conference.

Janet Barr was the State Coordinator of the Highway Watch® program and had been instrumental in the training of over 16,000 participants in Illinois. Janet is well prepared to answer your questions on various topics.
